Support

Donate to the upkeep of Shorter Cemetery

It costs $2,500 a year to mow and trim the grass at Shorter Cemetery. The cemetery has been fortunate to receive grants to fund the restoration projects, but these fund cannot be used to fund the ongoing maintenance and the care of the grounds.

Governor Shorter has no living descendants to maintain this beautiful place. The “Friends of Shorter Cemetery, Inc.” which has 501(3)(c) Status from the IRS has been formed to provide support for Shorter Cemetery. Membership dues and donations are needed to provide the support for this historic treasure.

The Friends of Shorter Cemetery host a picnic to the cemetery each year the last Saturday in March which is the weekend before the annual Eufaula Pilgrimage. At the picnic the “Friends” show off what has been done in the last year and solicit donations and urge people to join and become “Friends of Shorter Cemetery”.
