Governor Shorter’s Plot

Governor Shorter is located directly north of General Shorter’s plot. It is surrounded by an iron fence that was a gift to the Shorter family upon the death of Governor Shorter from the people of New Orleans in appreciation of the Governor’s service to the Confederacy during the War Between the States.

The plot contains the graves of Governor Shorter, his wife, Mary Jane Battle, their daughter and the graves of Mary Jane Battle Shorter’s: parents, brother, sister-in-law, nephew and Niece.
